OUR SUPPORTERS What does not-for-profit mean? Riverbend is not a state funded agency, but rather it is a locally incorporated, public not-for-profit center operated based on monies received from local cities and counties, mental health contracts, insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, and donations from individuals, corporations, and other non-profit organizations. Donation Opportunities Board of Directors A 30-member Board of Directors appointed to six-year terms by the cities and counties in Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale counties governs Riverbend. Riverbend Administration The staff and facilities of Riverbend is led by Bryan W. Libell, Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Libell manages a staff of over 150 employees. Bryan W. Libell, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Libell joined Riverbend in 1992. He had served as Assistant Director since 1994 and assumed his current role in 1999. Bryan completed his Bachelor's degree in Sociology at Slippery Rock State College before attending Mississippi State University where he completed his Master of Education in Community Counseling. Bryan is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Counseling Supervisor. Don R. Tucker, Chief Financial Officer Mr. Tucker has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a minor in Economics from the University of North Alabama. He has been employed at Riverbend since 1994. Prior to joining our staff he worked in public accounting as well as serving as Division Controller for an American stock exchange company. Don is the Treasurer of the Riverbend Board of Directors. Riverbend Foundation Mission Statement: The mission of the Riverbend Foundation is to assist Riverbend Center for Mental Health in providing services and education for the community. Who we are: The Riverbend Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. What we do: Each year the Riverbend Foundation provides funds to Day by Day, a support group for parents and grandparents whose children have died, as well as supporting other non-profit organizations which contribute to the mental health of the Shoals area. The Riverbend Foundation sponsors the Annual Brain and Behavior Conference. This annual conference brings to the Shoals nationsl experts and authors in the field of mental health to train local mental health professionals and educators who work daily serving individuals and families impacted by mental illness. The Riverbend Foundation also provides educational scholarship funds to individuals preparing to work in the mental health field and/or recovering from the effects of mental illness in their own lives.
